Sacred Ground for Sacred Vows

By Lisa; Sacred ground for sacred vows.  The skyline of Kansas City provided a picturesque backdrop to celebrate the wedding of Lauren VanDyke and Randy Weigand.  The wedding took place at the top of Kansas City's World War I Museum with Millie's Event Designswww.millieseventdesigns.com as the wedding planner.

Saturday, August 1, 2015, was a warm and windy evening atop the WWI Museum at half past six, but that didn't seem to bother the family and friends that had gathered to celebrate the ceremony of Lauren and Randy.  The military museum holds a very dear spot in the hearts of both families given the service of Joseph VanDyke - pilot in the US Air Corps in WWII and Calvin E. Mock - 9th Armed Division US Army in WWII.  During the ceremony the bride's parents were asked to place a wreath around each lit candle in a glass cylinder etched with the names of their family members who had
passed during WWII.

Mr. and Mrs. Randy Weigand made it official with a ceremonial kiss.  It was now time for family pictures and for the guests to make their way down to cocktail party. The couple then made their way downstairs and were introduced to family and friends by the lead guitar player from the band Kokomo. The couple then strolled thru the dinning room to cut their cake exchanging hugs and kisses along the way.  The guests were then treated to a buffet style pasta bar, salad and sushi bars.  These were top with delicious "to die for" desserts. During dinner the guests were entertained with a video montage of Lauren and Randy.  The bride's father then provided a heartfelt, emotional toast to his daughter. The best man then stepped forward to say a few words about his brother and the new beginning with Lauren. It was now time for the first dance and then the special dances, father/daughter and mother/son.  The guests then danced into the night to the musical talent of the band Kokomo.
