By Lisa; When playing the beautiful game of soccer, you can always
appreciate the field or “pitch” that is green and well groomed. The ball gets a true bounce and you can
always put your best foot into a shot on goal.
On Saturday June 25, 2016, two soccer hearts found their perfect
“match”! Ashley Mauck and Cameron
Zimmerman, both alums of Baker University and their Wildcat soccer programs,
said “I do” in front of family and friends at Impact Church in Overland Park,
Kansas.
At the conclusion of the vows, the newly christened Mr. and
Mrs. Cameron Zimmerman and their wedding party were showered with confetti as
they made their way to the limousine for a short trip to their reception at
Leawood’s “The Lodge at Ironwoods”. Once
all the guests had arrived and taken their seats, the wedding party was
introduced by DJ Jeremy of Icon Pro DJ Entertainment; www.iconprodj.com and took their seats at
the head table.
After a blessing by the Bride’s Father, Larry Mauck, the
bride and groom and guests were released by table to the buffet. A sumptuous Italian dinner was provided by
Garozzo’s; www.garozzos.com consisting of chicken spiedini, pasta shells in alfredo sauce, penne with Italian sausage, salad, bread and grated parmesan cheese.
As dinner was winding down, it was time for the traditional
wedding toasts. The first toast by Best
Man Andy Griffin recalled how he and Cameron had been both soccer teammates and
roommates at Baker and how Cameron had found the perfect teammate in Ashley. The second toast by Maid of Honor and sister
of the bride Morgan Mauck recalled the joys of sisterhood and how Ashley had
found the perfect brother-in-law in Cameron.
The final toast by the Father of the Bride, recalled how the family had
come to know Cameron and how happy they were to welcome him and his family into
their family.
Shortly after the toasts, it was time for the new couple to share their first bites of wedding cake and to treat the guests to both cake and delectable cupcakes for dessert. The couple then moved on to their first dance together, the traditional bride and father dance and groom and mother dance. After the dances, DJ Jeremy was the emcee for a wonderfully entertaining “scavenger hunt” game! With tables competing against one another to find the everyday objects called out by Jeremy, the game was fun filled for young and old alike.
To end the traditional wedding reception activities, all the
single ladies lined up to catch a beautiful bouquet tossed by Ashley. When the single men lined up to catch the
garter, they were surprised to find it wrapped around a small soccer ball that
Cameroon launched into the crowd. Now it
was time for the guests to dance there way late into the evening and enjoy this
wonderful celebration of Cameron and Ashley’s pitch perfect day!
