By Lisa: St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Kansas
City, Missouri was the scene as Washington D.C. couple Leah Marie Fowler and
Jason Michael Whitaker came home to celebrate the sacrament of holy matrimony
with family and friends. It was a
beautiful sunny afternoon on July 9, 2016 as the ceremony began promptly at 2pm
under the direction of Father Don Farnan.

Mr. and Mrs. Jason Whitaker St. Thomas More Catholic Church |
The church was brightly lit as the sun was shining
through the stain glass. Each pew
decorated with large white hydrangeas knotted with satin ribbon each one tied
into an oversize bow. The bride looked exquisite in her white lace,
beaded off the shoulder gown. She wore a floor length netted vail that
complemented her fanned out train. The bridesmaids wore chiffon powder
blue floor length gowns, each one having its own unique neckline styling. Upon
the exchange of vows, Father Farnan then blessed their marriage and presented
the couple to family and friends for the first time as “Mr. and Mrs. Jason
Whitaker.” The guests celebrated outside the church with bubbles to send off
the happy couple to their reception in downtown Kansas City at the Kansas City
Convention Center; www.kcmo.org
As guests arrived at the Convention Center, they
were greeted with a lovely cocktail reception.
Both guests and the new couple were entertained by custom caricatures
drawn by artist, Eileen McCoy; www.eileenmccoy.com.
Promptly at 6:45pm, the guests were ushered into their assigned tables
in the adjoining ballroom. Each table was beautifully decorated by Maple
Lane Designs; www.maplelanedesigns.com with tall clear cylinder
vases that showed off the beautiful nosegay and large white hydrangea blooms
that were complemented with white roses blended with dark greenery. The wedding
party was then announced by the band leader Chris Baker of Musivo Live; www.musivolive.com to
join guests, family and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Jason Whitaker were all smiles as they
entered the ballroom. Upon entry, they
made their way over to the dance floor where they cut their beautiful wedding cake
and shared their traditional champagne toast.
Brian Fowler, the father of the bride, then welcomed all and gave the
blessing prior to dinner. The buffet lines were then opened beginning
with the head table, followed by family, and then guests. Once everyone
was seated again and finishing their meals, it was now time for the traditional
wedding toasts. Brain Fowler again took
center stage, this time with Leah and Jason by his side, where he made a memorable
and heartfelt toast. With sentimental
tears in their eyes, the guests raised their glasses to toast the newlyweds. Brian then presented the couple one more time
as they took center stage for their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Jason Whitaker. Their dance was then followed by Brian and
Leah and then Jason and his mother.
Afterwards, the dance floor was opened for everyone to show off their
dance moves to the sounds of Musivo Live.
As the reception was coming to a close and after
some brief thundershowers that brightened the Kansas City night sky, the guests
were move out to the patio for one final sendoff. The skies were brightened once again as the
guests formed two lines and each held spectacular wedding sparklers forming a
tunnel of light for Jason and Leah to make their exit.
Congratulations to Jason and Leah, the new Mr. and
Mrs. Whitaker. Thank you for choosing
