With this ring I thee wed…

By Lisa; St. Thomas More Catholic Church was the site for the nuptial mass celebrating the sacrament of holy matrimony for Allison Marie Melgaard and Samuel Charles Tapko The ceremony was held on Saturday, June 7, at two o’clock in the afternoon and was presided over by Father Don Farnan.  Millie’s Event Designs’ “Wedding Planner” was on site to oversee every detail allowing the families to enjoy the day free from worry.

The church was beautifully decorated with green and white hydrangeas, big fun roses and hot pink spray roses on every other pew.  There were three white roses at the altar presented by each of the mothers to honor deceased family members. During the prelude, organist, Judy Kashka played “How Beautiful” as the guests were being seated.  Each bridesmaid carried coral peonies bouquets and the groomsmen were dressed in black tuxes with a coral rose boutonnière as they processed down the altar to the hymn “Song at the Speyer Catherdral, Nevue”.  The bridal processional was “Processional, Purcell” as Eric Melgaard, the bride’s father, escorted his daughter, Allison, who was carrying a bouquet of all white and ivory flowers (hydrangea, roses, peonies and tulips) down the aisle to give her hand in marriage.

Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests made their way north to the Kansas City Marriott on the Country Club Plaza to begin the reception celebration with a hosted cocktail hour.  Each guest was treated to buffalo mozzarella, tomato & basil focaccia, BBQ meatballs and coconut shrimp. The bridal party enjoyed a Trolley Tour from the church to reception with their memories recorded by photographer Tim Fleenor timfleenorphoto.com and videographer Mat Baysinger baysingerfilms.com.

Michael Beers called the guests into the Grand Ballroom at 7:00 PM. Once the guests were seated, Michael proceeded to introduce the bridal party as they made their grand entrance into the ballroom. Directly after, Eric Melgaard gave the blessing.  The menu was a garden green salad, chicken piccata with a lemon caper xauce, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Upon conclusion of dinner it was time for the toasts and the cake cutting ceremony. Lynne Muellier of Icing on the Cake, exclusively designed a beautiful three-tiered embossed cake with buttercream icing, accented with red rose petals.  It was now time for Mr. and Mrs. Sam Tapko to have their first dance as man and wife. Following the newlywed’s dance, Allison and her father Eric shared the dance floor with Sam and his mother Julie to create some lasting memories.  The guests then hit the dance floor where they danced into the early morning to the sounds of the Michael Beers Band.
