January Nuptials with Elegance and Style

Mr. & Mrs. John Devins
By Lisa; Saturday, January 28, 2017 was a gray but unseasonably warm day for winter in Kansas City.  That made it a picture perfect day for the Village Presbyterian Church to host the wedding of Miss Tierney Weed and Mr. John Devins.  Under the direction of Reverend Tom Are, Tierney and John were united in holy matrimony in front of family and friends at six o’clock sharp.  Millie’s Event Designs; www.millieseventdesigns.com was onsite as the “day of coordinator” to ensure that all the day’s activities went according to the timeline outlined by the couple’s families.

The newly minted Mr. and Mrs. John Devins, along with their bridal party were then sent off from the church to the reception by family and friends waving black and gold shimmering wands.  While the bridal party bus traveled about Kansas City, the guests made their way over to the Indian Hills Country Club; http://www.ihcckc.com for cocktails and dinner.  The guests were treated upon arrival by a lighted ice sculpture of a capital "D" that was surrounded by the newlywed’s signature drinks.

As the cocktail hour ended, the doors were opened to the ballroom and each guest made their way to their assigned tables. The room’s beautiful decor was accented by the aroma of the fresh flowers arranged in center pieces of various vases and heights by Maple Lane Designs; www.maplelanedesigns.com  The tables featured cream colored floor length table linens and each place setting had a gold charter plate with a tuxedo folded cream colored napkin that held the menu card.

The dinner consisted of Indian Hills Signature Salad; organic mixed greens, sliced pear, toasted almonds, crumbled blue chases, balsamic vinaigrette.  The entree' was roasted beef tenderloin and almond-brown sugar crusted salmon with winter squash risotto, roasted asparagus, cabernet-veal reduction and maple dijon cream.  After the guests were seated and the bridal party arrived to take their places at the head table, the band “Lost Wax”; www.lostwaxkc.com introduced the new bride and groom. The newlyweds entered the ballroom and proceeded to the center of the dance floor to cut of their beautiful tiered wedding cake and make their champagne toast of love to one another.  Then father of the bride, Andy Weed, welcomed everyone and gave a very personal family blessing.

As the last table was being served their entree', it was then time to begin evening’s festivities. Beaming father Andy Weed began the toasts with a very heartfelt speech and then introduced his other daughter, Ellie Weed as she stood to give her maid of honor speech. This was followed by the best man speech from the groom's brother, Will Devins.  The band then asked for Tierney and her father to come to dance floor for the traditional father and daughter dance.  This was followed by the groom and his mother.  Then it was time for Mr. and Mrs. John Devins to have their first dance as a married couple.  The dance floor was then turned over to “Lost Wax” and the guests to join in the fun.  For those guests who needed a little energy pick me up, a desert lounge was opened featuring an elegant confections beignet bar, cheesecake creations, and an indoor s'mores roasting station. After the stylish dinner, dancing and desert, the evening concluded with the guests lining up and blowing bubbles as the newlyweds were whisked away to begin their new life together.
