Millie's Event Designs does Fox 4 Encore on Summer Parties!

By Lisa: Millie's Event Designs adds a little Geography Flair to your Summer Holiday Parties.

When you think of summer parties most people think of swimming parties, beach parties, tea parties, etc.  However, if you look outside the box and travel the globe, you will find ideas on how other countries celebrate summer holidays.

We are all familiar with America and how we celebrate our Independence Day, July 4, with friends, backyard BBQ's and fireworks.  But, did you know that our Canadian friends to the North celebrate their birthday as a country on July 1st in a similar fashion?  For our encore appearance, we recommended spicing up the festivities with a maple leaf cake to serve their guests.

Moving over to Europe, every July 14th, France celebrates Bastille Day which marks the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789.  Bastille Day is a festive event that splashes fireworks and patriotic processions across Paris, the French capital. For this day of gathering with friends, Millie’s Events recommended baguettes, Nutella as well as signature drinks and sparkling water.

In Italy, Ferragosto Day, is a very popular holiday celebrated on August 15th.  Ferragosto Day also coincides with the day that the Catholic Church commemorates the "Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary".  The most typical way to celebrate Ferragosto is to on a so-called "gita fuori porta", literally a "day trip to some place outside the city gates".  Most people go to the beach, or have a picnic in the woods on the nearest mountain or in the countryside.  Millie’s Events recommended packing some Italian cheeses, crackers and wine for your excursion!

Finally “Feliz Cumpleanos” is how our Mexican neighbors to the South say "Happy Birthday".  But, you don't have to know the language to understand the appeal of a fiesta.  An ice-cream-sundae bar is a welcome alternative to cake when the temperatures reach tropical levels.  Be sure to set out your toppings with Mexican flair, like spicy candies and lime garnishes.  Don't forget the traditional piñata filled with favorite candies to add to festivities.  Even if your address is north of the border, everyone's sure to have an afternoon that's “muy bueno”!

Whether your summer party plans are traditional or involve going outside the box, contact Millie’s Event Designs to bring it all together for a party that is the hit of the season!
